According to Reuters, US President Joe Biden is considering bringing Georgetown University law professor Chris Brummer to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).Georgetown University academic Chris Brummer, who leads the annual DC Fintech Week conference, could be the next chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The news service reported last night that Brummer was running for president of President Joe Biden’s federal commodity regulator.Brummer was previously nominated as a commissioner to the CFTC by former President Barack Obama in 2016, but his nomination ended before the Senate scheduled a confirmation hearing. Former President Donald Trump did not re-nominate him for federal commodity regulator after taking office in 2017. Biden also appointed Brummer to the transition team after winning the 2020 presidential election last year.
