Crypto.com Chief Marketing Officer Steven Kalifowitz told the Journal that buying ads is a way to show people that crypto isn’t just a fad, it’s “the foundation of the next version of the internet.”

According to the Journal, NBCUniversal , which aired the NFL’s championship game on February 13, is asking about $6.5 million for a 30-second commercial. The televised event attracts millions of viewers each year. So much so that, according to the data, the match held last year was followed by a total of 91 million viewers.

Expanding Their Sponsorship

Crypto.com announced in a new statement Tuesday that it will sponsor the Los Angeles women’s soccer team, known as Angel City Football Club. However, the leading cryptocurrency exchange spent $700 million last month renaming the Staples Center, home of the LA Lakers and LA Kings, to the Crypto.com Arena.

Still, Crypto.com is not the first cryptocurrency exchange to enter the professional sports arena. So much so that FTX announced that it purchased ad space for the 2022 Super Bowl last October.

However, many questions were asked to FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried about why the stock market made such a move. Bankman-Fried answered these questions as follows;

“There is no bigger, more mainstream place to share a message like this than the Super Bowl.”

Earlier this year, the $25 billion company also bought the naming rights to the Miami Heat’s stadium for $135 million. On top of that, Bankman-Fried chose NFL icon Tom Brady as its brand ambassador and partnered with Major League Baseball to sponsor it.

Bankman-Fried says he researches professional sports because fans are twice as likely to know about crypto than non-fans.
